Founded in 1893 as Wallingford School, Balaclava Primary & Infant School stands as one of St. Elizabeth's most enduring educational institutions. What began with just forty students has evolved into a thriving learning community that has served generations of families in the Balaclava area for over 130 years.
Located in the heart of St. Elizabeth parish, our school has witnessed remarkable transformations while maintaining its commitment to educational excellence. From its humble beginnings as Wallingford School, the institution was renamed Balaclava Government School in 1962, later becoming Balaclava All-Age School in the late 1960s before adopting its current name, reflecting our focus on primary and early childhood education.
Under the dedicated leadership of Principal Lores Rodney and Vice Principal Tanesha Atkinson-Foster, along with the guidance of Board Chairman Mr. Michael Daley, we continue to uphold our motto of 'Excellence Always.' Our experienced leadership team works tirelessly to ensure every child receives quality education in a nurturing, supportive environment.
Today, Balaclava Primary & Infant School remains committed to fostering academic achievement, character development, and community engagement. We take pride in our rich heritage while embracing modern educational practices that prepare our students for success in an ever-changing world.
